Students should consider graduate programs that are designated by the Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education (COAMFTE) for education in the MFT field.
Obtaining a degree that has been accredited by this established organization will showcase that the graduate has received thorough education in research methods, legal and ethical issues, and are prepared for a diverse group of clients and are culturally aware during clinical meetings.
Programs with this designation will also satisfy most state licensure educational criteria. At the moment, there are no programs that are accredited by the COAMFTE in the state of Arkansas.
